Think I have a theme going here

well, over the past few weeks I do seem to have concentrated on paintings of Dartmoor and Exmoor, and why not - both beautiful places with some of the most dramatic views in this part of the West Country.  Again, I have used the Atelier Interactive Acrylics -

I have called this painting :   "Sunset against the Storm - Exmoor"

Measuring 16" x 16"

WOW!! What a beautiful scene, Ann! I like very much how the light hits the ground and the shadows on the green. Great job!

Thank you very much John - your feedback and that of others does help clarify this painting for me - I guess we all doubt our own work, and I am certainly no exception!....many thanks.

This is my favourite of your acrylics so far, Ann. I like the way you have the intense shadow in the foreground offsetting the patches of land illuminated by the light through the storm clouds.Great.

Oh wow this is stunning Ann! The sky with these raging clouds and the light forcing its way out and hitting the ground...a real show stopper!

Ann, I just can't describe the feeling I have after looking at your painting. It is exquisite, and I felt the same way when I saw the thumbnail size. Wonderful work.
I came back to edit because my verification word for this comment is 'excited' and I AM!...For YOU!

It took me a minute to remember his name but your painting style on this series reminds me of Thomas Cole. I saw some of his paintings at the Smithsonian about 20 years ago and it still moves me when I think of it.

Oh, Ann! Lovely! Those beams breaking through the clouds are right on the money. The interactive acrylics are really giving you the opportunity to enhance your already skillful style.

Yours,
Nanina

ooooo I really like this one. Of course, it reminds me so much of my beloved Exmoor!
BTW.... 1952 means you were born in the Year of the Dragon, unless your birthday is before 27 January 1952, in which case you were born in the Year of the Rabbit!

Just visiting from Shammickite, where I saw your question about your sign. Like me, you're a Dragon. I'm a middle-of-'52 baby too. This ought to be a good year!
I have never been to Exmoor, but your painting is how it's always seemed in my imagination.

JANE MINTER said...

very dramatic landscape with the shafts of light..must be inspiring landscapes to paint ann ..thankyou for your kind comment on my blog ann .

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hi Pondside, yes Exmoor is a dramatic place, the weather catches it like this I guess because of the height, same as Dartmoor.

ann @ studiohyde said...

Thank you Jane, yes it's a wonderful place.

so many great paintings and I loved looking at your sketchbook. I've never had luck with acrylics-too slippery or something. Maybe I just haven't found the right brand.
