The Matthew

Last week I posted photographs of The Matthew (the galleon ship that turned up in the Bay)...

I have finally got round to doing a painting of it - a small watercolour A4 size

okay, I used a bit of artistic license with the sky, but thought it
added a bit of drama!

Have a great weekend everyone!

That sky does add drama!
I'd be inclined to do another and go really wild with sea and sky! :) xx

Your painting is very nice and certainly more dramatic than the reference picture.

Thanks Pat, that's a good idea. I'll work on that idea, cheers.

Thanks Balaji - I'm glad I did that sky.

That sky certainly is dramatic! I imagine it is a ghost ship now! Great work, Ann!

Thank you Judy - I'm currently working on yet another version, in view of Pat's earlier suggestion, but don't know if I can be brave enough to go really bold...oh well, we shall see!

I love your watercolor Galeon, and what I like most is the dramatic effect you accomplished and give it your personal stamp prints, makes the difference between a photo and a painting ... congratulations!

In fact, a part from the ship being done beautifully, the first thing I noticed was this dramatic sky that really adds to the painting.

I had to do a second-take, Ann. The painting was so perfect in reference to the photo!

But your colors and tremendous sky made the painting SO much better!

Thanks Jane - I'm glad I altered the reference photo...cheers.

Thanks Barb, I drew the ship first and then worked around it. So good to get your feedback, along with everyone, as it confirms my decision was right to add the drama in the sky!
