Scrap paper sketch

I usually have a sketchbook with me in the car or in my bag, at least that's the theory.  That was until recently when low and behold my sketchbook had disappeared.....well, to be honest I'd forgotten to replace it.  Having completed my glove pocket book as I call it, I had to improvise and used a scrap of brown paper instead.   This lead on to having to use a pen, pencil wouldn't show up too well on this brown paper.

As it happens, I like this little sketch all the more, probably because I had to improvise.

I intend to keep this and stick it into
one of my journals

Good thinking! Neat sketch. Something so neat about doing this.
I have done sketches on my grocery list and receipts because I forgot my sketch book. And like you, paste them in a journal.

I saw a student's sketchbook when he was show-casing his work. He was very into buildings and had used a variety of materials stuck into a sketchbook. It worked really well and seeing this, I am thinking it might be serendipity.

Terrific idea! Gives it all the more character. It will look great in a new sketchbook.

I like it too! Great painters made sketches on whatever was available (paper napkins, etc.)! So using a piece of brown paper is surely a sign of greatness!

I love drawing on brown paper bags...have done fabric art on them too. so your grab what was handy is a wonderful idea and love the look of it. Will be a fun addition to any journal you stick it in! Happy drawing and painting Ann.

There's something about sketching on random receipts etc, I think it's the layers that help.

I love it - great re-cycling and makes for a story-behind the sketch. Stories always enrich the art, I think:-) I left a comment on your strawberries at TMC - love you fruit series!
