A visit to a local park

Last week started quite wet, but regardless of that we ventured out for a walk and took a look around a local park.   I say local, actually about 5 miles from here, but local enough and

thought I would share some of the photos with you

this little tree has the most wonderful bark,
it looks like copper

and this tree has what appear to be
little lanterns hanging on it

which I couldn't resist doing a
quick sketch of

  1. Beautiful plants, it must be fabulous there when the sun shines!
Lovely little sketch, too, Ann xx

    1. Yes Pat, it's a very nice park and changes throughout the season. I have taken a photo of some empty beds, which will be planted up, and later in the season I'll go back and photo them in full bloom - probably do a before and after post :)

  2. What extraordinary trees and flowers, Ann! The pink blossom is lovely! You have to go back on a sunny day. The rain (here too) makes this summer a little sad.

  3. Nice one Ann both photographs and painting! Have a Happy Monday!
    Best wishes Molly

  4. Excelentes fotografias....

  5. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos, I wouldn't mind keeping you company in this park :-) Here we have rain and thunderstorms , too !

  6. Beautiful blooms! Your painting looks a little like a bleeding heart. Very pretty!

  7. I've never seen the tree with the red "lanterns" before, I wonder what it is. I think the pink one is wigielia, or is it wiliegia....? I never know how to spell it.
OK... just looked it up, it's WEIGELA. here's the wikipedia page:

  8. The bark of that tree is so interesting! great wee painting too!

  9. Lovely photos of the flowers and trees. I like your sketch of the flower. I never saw one like that.

  10. It's wonderful to see things from your world. The sketch says so much with so little.

  11. It's been a long time since I last strolled through a park with my camera. I feel inspired. Thank you Ann.
