Watercolour Doodle

I don't like wasting paper, who does, so when I had a page of watercolour paper left over in my Daler-Rowney pad, I thought this was a chance to just doodle.  Instead of using pencil or pens I used watercolours.

This is how it ended up...

It did make for a good exercise in washes

as well as a fun doodle

Hi Ann, I would say it is a nice sketch, a good preliminary work for a bigger watercolor. Have good week end!

I always admire how you can do this without sketching it first as a guide. This talent eludes me! LOL Very nice ‘doodle’!

Thanks Robin, but honestly it is just a case of playing with paint, and it just paints itself:)

Thank you Kristin:)

ann @ studiohyde said...

Thanks for your comment La Abela. Watercolour can be complicated sometimes, but the more I use it the more fun it is.

Hi Ann.
I think it is a very good Landscape and not a doodle. Well done
and all the best.
Vic.

ann @ studiohyde said...

Thanks for saying so Victor. Honestly though, if you had seen me doing this, it really was doodling..lol :)

Wow great results, especially with the tree. See this is why I love PPF. You get to see artwork done in so many different techniques. (I rarely take to the watercolors without some sort of pencil sketch first, so to me this is very daring!)

Beautiful landscape in watercolor.

This is lovely! Exactly what watercolor is all about, capturing a mood with nothing but soft wisps of color.

A doodle? Wow! Beautiful waterrcolour.

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hi Eva, yes definitely a doodle, if you had seen me painting this you would agree...lol. I made the scene up as I went along, doodling one bit, then doodling the next...it was fun though.
