Sketchbook

Made my own sketchbook again!  This time a pizza box formed the Cover.  I haven't shown the painting of that, but I just flattened it out and poured the blue acrylic paint directly on to it and then scrapped it over with an old store card (they make great scrapers by the way, but need to be slightly flexible, the not too floppy sort).

having painted both sides, once dry I then made some inner pages to fit.  Bear in mind the overall size of this is only about 5" x 5" .

I attached the pages by threading through some blue ribbon, which I left hanging on the outside with some extra ribbon and beads (the beads were actually a left over from Christmas crackers).  I also covered the edges of the book with paper to give it a more Book like appearance

From my button box I used this jewel button - just put a hole in the cover of the book and then used a small piece of wire (the sort you get in packaging) to attach it on the inside

I then covered that with a piece of paper...like a little elastoplast!

on the back I attached a hairband .... found it was a bit short for the job so added a piece of ribbon too...never mind, it still does the job

and that does it!
one sketchbook ready to pop in my bag
and take out and about
for a spot of sketching and journalling!

Hope you enjoyed.

I am today Linking
(many thanks to EVA & Kristin)

Have a great weekend everyone

Oh that's really nice, very creative. You are inspiring me! Do you have any snow? I saw snowflakes at 10 Downing St on the news yesterday and my cousin has written to say it's VERY cold over there. So stay warm!

Pretty accessories adding it gives it a royal look

It's beautiful! Love that it's from recycled material.

ann @ studiohyde said...

Glad you like this. I hope you give this a go, great fun to do. Yes, we do have snow. Not a lot down by the beach, but up and over from Ilfracombe to CM there is quite a bit. In fact yesterday morning the road from Ilf to Mullacott Roundabout was closed for a while with around 4" of the white stuff. Cleared now though. Looks like this may be the worst over with as rain in coming in (or so they say!). We are keeping the heating going on tick over :)

ann @ studiohyde said...

Thanks Mary...I love adding the extras to these books :)

ann @ studiohyde said...

Thanks Christine, the best part is using up something that would be headed for the bin :)

Very nice! Isn’t it satisfying to make your own sketchbook? I always feel so ‘frugal’ and self-satisfied when I make my own! LOL

ann @ studiohyde said...

...completely agree Robin. I make a few of these little books and almost don't want to draw in them, I line them up on a shelf and look at them! lol.
