Mop brushes

Just last week I purchased three new brushes...yay, love it when I get arty stuff in the post.
This time it was Squirrel Mop Brushes - I'm hoping the squirrel died of natural causes, but doubt it!
Anyway, these brushes are great and will be loved for years.

I bought them from Rosemary & Co   (page 17 if you have their booklet) or
look here at their online page,
and would like to add that from ordering online to receiving was less than 24 hours, excellent service.

I chose sizes 2, 6 and 8

 they form a lovely point

and hold an amazing amount of paint

[above 'example' : a yummy swirl of paint just for the heck of it....]

The advantage with these brushes is that they automatically make you paint in a Loose style, so if you are wanting to do that type of painting, I would say they are ideal

In fact, the painting from my previous post was done with these brushes...

So, although I had found the paper hard going
the brushes made
up for it!

When the paint dried on the 'example'   I thought it looked a bit like a rabbit.....can you see it!

Would have been spooky if it had looked like a squirrel wouldn't  it!!!

Hope you enjoyed
this

yes, I definitely see a rabbit!! I'll have to give these brushes a try. I've seen them at our local craft store but never really considered them until now.

about the squirrels...i think they just give them haircuts to make these brushes. that's what i'll tell myself anyway :)

Thought you would see that rabbit! I agree with you about the squirrels haircuts, I expect there's a squirrel boutique especially for them, lol. :)

I see a slightly hunched over dog…..perhaps William……..? Isn’t it nice to get artsy ‘love’ in the mail? (Although I’m not so sure I’d be comfortable using squirrel brushes. Yes, it would definitely have been spooky if it looked like a squirrel! :0 )

...Yay, you found the bunny too :)

ann @ studiohyde said...

...yes, could be William too, he seems to get everywhere these days :)

Spooky indeed!
I must get some of those brushes if they would help me paint pictures like the one you did here......brilliant!

I would encourage anyone to get these brushes. At least try one first and see how you get on, but would say: Prepare your paint first, they soak it up.

Tengo un pincel de esta clase y estoy muy contenta con él. Podemos realizar lavados interminables ya que retienen mucha agua. El paisaje te ha quedado muy sutil, me gusta :)
Un abrazo.

Glad you like these brushes as well Sonia. I love how they hold so much water/paint too :)

Me alegra que te guste estos pinceles Sonia. Me encanta la forma que poseen tanta agua / pintura también :)

Squirrel fur? Really? That seems like a good use for squirrels.

I love getting new art supplies, always fun to see what they can do... I love your painting that you did with them and your abstract bunny test, the soft expressiveness is lovely.

The painting you did with these is lovely!! I love that skipped effect that creates the sparkling white. I have been wanting one of these brushes for a while, now you've convinced me. :)

Those are beautiful brushes! And yes, i must agree. The squirrels get special trims at special squirrel salons where these brushes are made! :)
