Tree on a hill

A quick sketch based loosely on the one I did last week  ~ here ~

at least I think this qualifies as a 'sketch' although I have to say that I didn't draw it out first.  Just used clear water to roughly 'place' the slope of the hill and tree, then dropped the paint in.  Again I used one of my squirrel mops...oh, what bliss to have a paint brush that does the work for me.

I added some darker mix with a smaller sable brush once the first layer of paint was dry.

and as it is Sunday, I am Linking to Sunday Sketches

Hi Ann,
Beautiful paint work. Wish I could just drop my paint on like that and have a beautiful painting. I always sketch things out first...to afraid to just go for it.. happy SS :)

Thanks Dana, Jane, Katarina, Lynn, Christine, Debbie and Caro -

this painted itself really, very little input from me. Maybe I will do a blog post showing how I do these. What say you!

Great job.. nobody said sketching had to be in pencil or ink. I often start a painting with a quick sketch of oils thinned with turpentine.

I know I've commented on this in the forum but I'll do so again here. I really like the spontaneity of this and can't believe how quickly you did it. A blog (and forum) post on how you do it would be wonderful. ;-)

Such a simple picture and yes, I'll do a post on how I did this, watch out for it during the week :)

It's lovely! I have also been "sketching" with my watercolors as well. Using clear, or slightly colored water to place things! It seems to work well!!

Thanks so much :)

Thanks Adrienne, I like the idea of using slightly coloured water to start with.

Yet another fab loose sketch Ann. You are certainly getting into the swing of using the squirrel mops. Beautifully loose.
