Seascape and Paint Party Friday

Hi all -

Hope you have had a good week.  We have been busy, but not too much that I couldn't get some sketching done.  The painting aspect for me is on a back burner at the moment. I've works in at a couple of Galleries at the moment....the walls here in the studio are looking a little bare!  Not that I mind as it has been an opportunity to do some little sketches and drawings  - plus reading blogs!

Yesterday was the turn of  a small Seascape....just playing with an idea initially in a sketchbook

and then changing it a bit onto  postcard size watercolour paper 6" x 4"

Mixed media as I used white gouche for the splashes of the waves..

Loose - quick - simple and
most of all fun to do

I'm Linking to
PAINT PARTY FRIDAY
today
with Thanks to
EVA & Kristin for hosting

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ALL

Wow! I love the way you captured the waves with just a few, but very effective strokes. Blessings!

OMGosh, I love this. The ocean is so difficult to make those specific waves do what you want them to. . . Splendid painting. Blessings, Janet PPF

Lovely movement in the waves Ann and great watery sea colours. Something I haven't tried yet as it looks pretty tricky to me.

Lovely and fluid work ~ excellent seas ^_^

ann @ studiohyde said...

Aww, give it a go...Top Tip: Prepare the paint first, then splosh it on the paper in wave shapes, the bigger the brush the better...Go on, like I said, give it a go :)

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hi Laura, No this isn't tricky at all. Like I said to Janet (JKW) Prepare paint - big brush and away you go.

Thanks Dianne, not difficult at all, in fact I think you get a lot of freedom painting them....just paint like your brush is a wave. Perhaps I should do a video of this to show how I go about it?

Un placer visitar su blog, las últimas imágenes del mar están bellamente logradas, y que buena idea la de dibujar con tinta y luego arrastrar la tinta con agua, trataré de probar me parece muy interesante, gracias por compartir
