Driftwood

Occasionally we pick up some lovely pieces of driftwood which are added to the garden for a bit of design.  One particular piece we have looked just like an animal...

on closer inspection...

Yikes!...almost scary and even
looks like it has teeth

needless to say, we repositioned it,
but it now looks like antlers

I've named it Rudolph! lol

A bit like Rorschach in wood. I liked the scary animal face. For a second, I thought you had glued on a wiggly eye until I realized that was a knot in the wood. Rudolph is fun, too.

I prefer that view too Sue :-)

Rudolph has an upper jaw and nostril too. What a versatile bit of wood/sculpture. I like it both ways up!

LOL...yes and it seems a pity to leave it in the garden! :-)

Oh wow...scary... Are you sure it's not a petrified old fossil creature?? Lol yep antlers would be my choice too. Lol

It truly is part of a tree Cris...incredible isn't it. When we first brought it home from the beach, we didn't notice the 'features' lol. Only when it was laying on the patio and looking down on it, did we see the 'face' and the 'eye' and then the 'teeth'....eeeek!

I love the character of driftwood, and that piece you found certainly has that, no question! :-)

Thanks Christine, Robin, Barb and Kim.....sometimes just turning a piece of driftwood around can reveal amazing things can't it - glad you enjoyed seeing this :-)

Incredible the first one, quite scary indeed . And Rudolph is perfect for the second find :-) I also love finding wood from the beach and use it somehow in the garden.

Your driftwood piece was indeed scary with the eye and the teeth! It looks so pretty now that you've turned it around some.

Surprising piece of driftwood with that scary animal face, it looks good the other way up on the garden wall.
