Grapes and a lodger

Our grapes are coming along just lovely in the garden.

They're growing over an arbor

they still have some way to go, but there are

loads of bunches

We aren't bothered about eating them ourselves,

but we think there is someone who is...

our Lodger....

you see we have a resident  Pigeon on a nest above all these grapes

(difficult to see but look at the middle of the picture and you
may spot her)

Have you called it Jeremy?
Seriously, my friend has a vine called Jeremy :)

You have a unique friend Eileen, lol ;)

I love the arbor overgrown by the vine, so romantic! I think your lodger feels the same! :)

Thanks Judy....we are really pleased with this arbor and how it's developed. Just wonder how long our lodger will stay, lol ;)

I love your painting of the green grapes.

We have a vine that produced small black grapes with a pip inside. They are quite sour so we are happy for the blackbirds to have them! Our pigeons don`t seem that interested in grapes but they love the seeds on tree ivy.

I was just going along reading and enjoying this post and then BAM your sketch took my breath away!
(I have fond memories of making grape juice and jam with my best friend and her mom from the grapes from their arbor. First we got to play 'house' in the arbor and then we got to eat the grapes and finally juice and jam!)

Thanks DW. It's strange what the birds will take...we have a cherry tree and they Love them, still we don't mind it keeps them happy :-)

LOL....sounds like you had a wonderful time with your friend and her mum. It's lovely to have such great memories of things like that :-)

Love how you sketched this cascading bunch of grapes. Do you eat all of them...or maybe make some wine?

Thanks Joan, I used a different approach with the drawing. I put in the colour first, no pencil outline...just went for the shapes...then when that had dried I added the pen work to bring it together.

Grapes are wonderful. Here we have to share with Raccoons and Deer. They like what we like, you really can't blame them!

We let the birds have them, as we do with cherries from the nearby tree and even strawberries....they are very lucky the birds here, lol :-)
