Fungi

Plural I guess is the same as singular.....Fungi

I have no idea what these are actually called as individual species, does it really matter, probably not unless you are a fungi expert, but by heck they are pretty.....

This was the largest, about 5 inches across....

I think my next job will be to sketch them, that will be another post though.

Have a great weekend.

The small mushrooms look like tiny umbrellas

Love to see a sketch of the first one particularly!

The first picture is Coprinus comatus, the shaggy ink cap, lawyer's wig, or shaggy mane. Edible when young, but don't drink alcohol with it, or you'll be feeling rather poorly!

I know, they looked so cute :-)

I'm working on it :-)

I've left it too late to eat it then! Lol. Thanks for letting us know what it is called. It was all on its own away from the other fungi and a wonder we spotted it at all :-)

The top one's so frilly and delicate looking.

They're all pretty and interesting, but the first one is especially beautiful. It looks a little like a frilly fairy's gown. :)

Makes me want a yummy salad with a variety of mushroom toppings!

Do love the 1st one the most, though; makes me think of ghosts on Halloween!

Beautiful fungi! Makes one want to look for Faeries! ;)

We thought that too. It was small about 2 inches high and well hidden next to the path, so pleased we saw it.

It does look like that Mary. Certainly the prettiest of the bunch.

It does....made me think of halloween too.

Halloween and faeries....amazing how one plant can conjure different thoughts :)

They are all very pretty. I think the small ones are called fairy caps.

A lot of choice there if you want to poison yourself LOL , but yes they are beautiful and a great painting subject .

I hoped somebody would give me another species name, thanks Eileen :-)

Yes, I thought that too. I wouldn't even chance picking mushrooms in case I got it wrong, lol :-)
