Watermouth Harbour + Paint Party Friday

Here's another painting in my Saunders Waterford Pad,

which incidentally I'm enjoying using -

It is a Rough paper, so I wasn't sure at first if that would

be a good thing, I usually go for NOT paper, the (in between rough and very smooth)...

but as things turn out I've really enjoyed putting paint and brush onto this surface.

I plan to crop this painting from the pad, frame and sell it.

Chicken and the rabbit

There I was sitting in the car waiting for husband to finish a grocery shop (I dislike shopping)....so usually I sketch whilst waiting for him.  Then, I spotted a Chicken and a Rabbit.  Can you see them?

here's a close up...

Okay....so perhaps not exactly a chicken and a rabbit!

- perhaps I should have gone shopping after all, lol -

Sunset

Still with the Saunders Waterford pad I've painted this sunset.  Prepared the colours first, that is the main thing, and plenty of it.  I did a very light pencil sketch of where I wanted things to go, like the distant hills.  Then put over the whole of the page clear water.  As the paper is rough and quite thick, I let it start to soak in and then added another layer of clear water to make sure.

Likely I went into this too soon, some of the paint spread further than I intended, but then it was fun to do - and to watch.  Next time I will try to be more restrained, and hold back until some of the 'shine'  from the clear water, has gone from the paper.

Devon cottage - watercolour + Paint Party Friday

Having had the Saunders Waterford pad for such a long time and not really using it,  I'm now finding it good fun .... I did this little painting the other day and after adding more layers of detail, it's time to share it with you.  I say, painting - I should say Sketch.  With the work in this spiral pad, I'm using it all for reference and experiment in preparation for larger watercolour paintings one day.

Again, I used my mop brushes - of which I have several...

As the mop brushes soak up so much paint, I prepare paint in small dishes as well as my palettes. So glad I kept these dishes from desserts - why throw away something this useful...

Today I'm linking with

with Thanks to EVA & Kristin our hosts.

I hope you will stop by Paint Party Friday and

see all the art work there.
