Bembridge Windmill IOW

YES, I have added this windmill before on a previous post,
but it just seemed too good not to share again
with pictures from our recent trip over to the Isle of Wight

I didn't put pictures of the Inside of the mill last time,
this time I have some...although have to admit I left husband to take them...
I did go inside the ground floor but going up the steep (very steep) stairs
was not for me...

With stairs like these to climb...

you can see why I opted out and much preferred waiting outside

enjoying the view...

Very quaint. Does the windmill still work?

It is quaint, they seemed to fit a lot of equipment into it and it has been restored over recent years. I'm not 100% certain it would still function as its original job, but as a lot of work has happened on it, plus going on what was inside, I reckon it could return to its former job.

WOW! It's in great shape considering it's age! Here in the states we let things go to ruin mostly..... :(

thanks for sharing, delightful photos!

That's because it's owned by the National Trust, they do a lot of restoration work :-)

I think there is something quite magical about windmills! Sarah x

I agree with you Sarah. I also think that if the modern wind turbines looked like these, people wouldn't have an issue with them :-)
