Isle of Wight - log cabin

We stayed in a log cabin on the Isle of Wight...been here before, so we knew what we were going to - and again it was perfect for us.

Not only did we visit beaches, but we had woodland walks too...although I wasn't sure what these were in the trees...

Got some sketching done during our stay...

inside the log cabin...

This is where we stayed - Landguard Holiday Park, I'd recommend it...

A very useful notice at the entrance showing some of the wildlife we could expect to see....although rabbits that look like cartoons apart, we did hear a woodpecker!...

but did wonder if we would actually see the animal at the bottom of this next list....

I think they meant to say:  STOAT

Ummm....think they need to recheck their spelling don't you.

We had a really good time
and William had a great time too.

Wonderful photos and sketches of your trip, Ann! I love the soft greens of spring, but I am also not sure what those things in the trees are. I love the cabin! I hope you found a stout in the woods.... cheers! :)

Nice trip. I'm wondering if those things in the trees are squirrel nests. I can see a couple in the woods behind my house.

What a lovely getaway, I think I would recognize William if I met him on a walk!

Thanks Judy, I like your sense of humour - cheers ;)

It's possible they could be squirrel nests, there are squirrels around there. I would love to know exactly what they are.

He looks at everyone as his friends, so you would get a great hello from him! :-)

Perhaps he was a stout stoat. I haven't been to the IOW in many years. My husband and his brothers and their mum and dad used to stay in a guest house in Ryde every summer when the children were little. Those were the days when people went back to the same seaside guest house every year. Unthinkable to go off to Spain or Italy!!!

The thinks in the trees might be squirrel drays, or possibly mistletoe.

Lol. We used to live near the ferries so went over occasionally. Probably didn't go over as much as we could have, which was a pity as it's so lovely there. Like being abroad without the airplane, lol. As a kid I had neighbours who went every Summer without fail and Always stayed in the same Hotel. Guess it was something that people did back then.

I wondered about mistletoe, but there was no sign of growth on it, all seemed to be like earth...very strange.
