Odds and ends...

I've put together here some pics from our recent trip, not included in the previous posts.....thought you would like to see them even though they are odds and ends.....

Elan Valley....this old bridge obviously got beyond repair

so a new one was built next to it...

On one of our drives, we stopped to walk up to a reservoir and through a woodland...

this was our accommodation at the hotel...really nice

in this photo it's like we are standing in the field with the sheep....well, in a way we were

there was a 'Sheep Crossing system' ~
a gate which separated two fields
although perhaps I should call it a 'People Crossing', it was their field after all.

and then on the mountain drive
we stopped at this arch....
which turned out to be called...
"the head of the pass of lost existence"

don't know why they hadn't just called it...
"the back of beyond"!

and a sketch from my journal to round things off....

    1. Well worth the stay there Eileen....they were in the process of doing some of it up, so there was a bit of disruption around the back of the hotel...but it didn't interfere with our stay at all...in fact, nice to see what they were doing.

  3. Nice miscellaneous photos, so that is what happens to old bridges sometimes!

    1. Certainly with that old bridge Christine...I think it would have cost too much to repair and cheaper to build new. It will be a shame when the old bridge eventually collapses though, nice to see what it could have been like once upon a time.

  4. The walk through the woods and the stone arch look like they are right out of Lord of the Rings

  9. Nice photos - I especially liked the one of William and his dad ....and the sheep. Looks like a nice place to stay - did you have both levels (looks like a 2 story)...or were you on the top level.

    1. It was lovely there, one of those trips away when you are really glad you went....we had the upstairs part, which was very spacious for a hotel room.
