Tree Stump Coins

We came across this great idea recently on one of our walks.  An old tree stump is being used for people to leave a coin embedded in it.  A stone is left as the hammer for knocking the coin (of your choice) into the tree stump...

No...husband isn't hitting his own hand!

It's the coin getting hit!

We thought this was a grand idea.

Amazing! A kind of wishing tree, instead of a wishing well.

That's different.

How wonderful. It certainly creates interest. Great idea.

It is a grand idea. Presumably you make a wish as you hit the coin in.
Husband and I sometimes visit a pub with lots of coins in the old oak beams!

Who harvests the coins when the tree stump rots away?

Definitely something unusual on our walk. It was nice to add to what someone else had started.

That sounds interesting Eileen. :-)

A fun thing to find on a woodland walk.

Whoever happens to find them I guess, lol. Mind you that tree stump was so big, I think it would be years before it rotted :-)

It was the first time we'd seen one...a fun idea indeed.
