Sketches on our travels

We have taken a couple of trips away recently and as always I sketch on these trips.  I thought you would like to see, where we stayed, and some of the drawings...Firstly, there was Birdlip in Gloucester where we have stayed before....here...

(thanks Google maps)

a quick sketch of the hotel, but didn't take the sketch further - perhaps I will return to this at some time and add watercolour

On this visit we drove over to Cheltenham one day for a look round - and I quickly sketched this building...I purposely did it wonky (just in case you wondered)....

Then we stayed down in Cornwall - here at The Harlyn Inn near Padstow

(thanks Google maps)

there was a lovely beach on the doorstep...

A drive around one day included a stop in *Falmouth

and to round off this post, here are a couple of sketches of our different hotel rooms...

Note: if you don't know what to draw - then draw your feet!

What a lovely way to record a trip. Birdlip is such a curious name as well. Great post.

love your sketches, and very effective use of watercolour!

Yes, they may as well have called it Beak, lol. But seriously, it is a lovely place. We spoke to a local walking her dog and she said as it is higher than the surrounding countryside, it is like a micro climate there.

Many thanks Christine, I certainly enjoy doing these sketches whilst we are away - nice to look back on and I remember each and every brushstroke...basically they bring back the memory of being there.

Great sketches! (When I don't know what else to draw I draw my feet too!)

...and the sketches make such a great memory of the trip for me. I can look back on them months later and still recall exactly where I was at the time I sketch them.

Well, thank goodness it isn't just me! :-)

love the boat masts and the colors with the left-alone building at Falmouth.
when you left a comment about the little classic air stream trailers...
I knew it was you! and that you live pretty minimally with william and dad in gorgeous devon.
but I can't believe I've never visited THIS blog of yours!
maybe for a good reason...
it makes me PEA GREEN with envy! LOLOL!!!
oh the places you see and to just go in any direction and find such beauty.
but instead of envying you... i'll just visit here now! XOXO♥
thank you so much for stopping by the peanut and leaving a comment.
it means a lot to this anglophile dog lover!

It's great that you have found us here Tammy. I use this blog for my art, plus travel - which sometimes gets put together as with this post. Good to know when I have folks travelling along with us on our journeys and walks.

Glad I'm not the only one Joan, lol :-)

They look lovely places to stay. I'm thinking of a dog friendly hotel for our next holiday, has to beat self catering any day :) Your sketches are lovely reminders of your visits.
