Country Park and the pub

Funny the things you find on a walk.  We had a few days away and came across
Itchen Country Park...things change over the years and nowadays a lot more thought is put into the outdoor experience for people.  Well, we had a certain lurcher with us (William for those who don't know - Link here to his blog), but I digress.  A walk is a walk, but this one came up with a few surprises...like this giant squirrel.  (We seem to find giant squirrels lately - read blogpost here)..

Then there was a picture trail - could we find all of them....

Umm...well, the answer was No we couldn't.  We must have gone wrong somewhere...

But along the trail there were some great things for kids...

and Lurchers!

(getting specific instruction from dad here)!!

It took a bit of explaining this one...

but the anteater was a lot easier!

The construction of Go-Ape was nearly completed...

and No, William didn't try that out - far too high..

After all that exercise we retreated to the Pub....

the Hampshire Bowman (link here)

Had a lovely meal with an old friend and then back to our Hotel...

Bartley Lodge Hotel in the New Forest

Where we had more great walks....even saw some deer (look carefully at the next picture - you might spot it) -  Thankfully the lurcher didn't do the deerhound thing of chasing it!

What a fun park! Aren't the picutres on the trail, the wooden play structures? William looks like he's on the grasshopper getting instructions from Dad. I really love the pub sign. What does free house mean?

This place made for a lovely afternoon walk :-)

Yes, it was a grasshopper, lol...Free House on the pub sign means they are not restricted to one brewery only, they sell drinks from various ones :-)

Fantastic photos. What a beautiful place to visit, I'd be returning on the pretext of the incomplete trail finds :)

Wow..that's a HUGE squirrel. Can you imagine keeping that out of your bird feeders? Lol

Can you imagine the size of the bird feeder too!!! lol. I definitely think they should now have a Lurcher sign - I should suggest it - thanks Cris.
