Sktchy

This really is spelt SKTCHY.  An App for iPad and iPhone where people add images for artists to paint, draw and yes sketch.

Now it has to be said that I am no portrait artist, never have been, but then I've never particularly been 'into' drawing people.  Okay, I do add some in my landscapes as middle distance interest, but that's it.  Until that is the Sktchy app came up.  My friend (and co-host over at Paper Paint Pencils & Pens) Lynn Cohen started me off on this.  Her drawings of people are so much fun, I thought I would give Sktchy a go.  And guess what, I've actually enjoyed drawing people, who'd have thought!
Makes for a great relaxing time in the evenings when I'm watching TV, I find an image in Sktchy, sit there with my sketchbook and graphite pencils and away I go.  Here's some so far, think in only a month or so I am up to over 60 images, I've surprised myself.

Do the people ever get to see what you've done? Wow! You've been busy. I especially like the snowboarder and the photographer.

Ann this is impressive, I love how you have captured their expressions, hope you will do many more! I've been hearing about Sktchy, will have to check it out.

WOW! I'm impressed! Not only with your talent but with your productivity...and just a little bit jealous....in a good way, of course! ;)

Thanks Eileen, I've really surprised myself with these. Although, possibly they differ slightly from the actual photographic image...I stop drawing when I'm happy with them though, squiggly extra lines and all 🙂

Yes they do get to see the drawings Marie. I always put the reference persons name in type with my post on Sktchy and the majority of times the person drawn will comment. Just hope I don't offend anyone along the way with my version of them, lol.

Thanks Christine. I've learnt along the way with these, but have found a method that works for me. All freehand drawn too, so undoubtedly they are not perfect. In the Sktchy app itself, when you add your drawing, you also add the reference image.....then, when someone sees your drawing, you can scroll right and the reference image appears. I should have added those reference images here really, but will remember to do that the next time I do a blogpost about it.

Well, I didn't bother with it for ages. Then Lynn Cohen was adding lots of drawings, so I thought I would just bite the bullet and give it a go...absolutely not expecting to find I enjoyed it!

Awww shucks! thanks Robin. Like I said in the post here, I sit during the evenings watching the TV doing these, but Never thought I would do several drawings each evening. I might do a step by step post of how the drawings develop.
