Sketches from our travels

Following on from my previous post about our visit to Hinton Ampner....here are some sketches I did whilst there.  Lucky that the weather was on our side and I was able to sit in the gardens and sketch.  While I was doing that Graham took William for a walk around the grounds and also through to the local village of Kilmeston where his Gran and Mum had once lived.

An enjoyable visit had by us all

    1. It was a surprise to us that this NT property was so near the village. Graham was really pleased to walk around and see the house where his gran & mum had lived one time years back. Sort of made the whole trip worth while.

  2. Lovely sketches. I especially like how you 'colored outside the lines' in the first one. Nice touch! :D

  3. It is lovely to visit places that have family connections. Does Graham have childhood memories of that place? I only ask as I have done that too and I have sat in the car and let all the memories flood back. I occasionally look again on Streetview but it's not the same as being there in person.

    1. He does have memories of the place, but not from childhood. Relatives still lived there one time, so it holds extra memories in that way for him. I know what you mean about being there in person, I've had the same with my own memories from places I've lived :)

    1. Thanks Judy, thought that pot of flowers added a different aspect, also it was on my right from where I was sitting, but didn't fit into the drawing...'artistic license' as they say.
