Watercolours

Although I didn't get far, it rained...and quite a bit, but never mind.  At least I made a start and will have to finish this over the next day or so in my studio...

here's my reference position on the meadow part of the lawn

So what happens when it rains and I'm outside.....I found a nice place Inside.
I retreated to the Conservatory, where not only did I warm up
I found a lot more inspiration for my paintings too

....and whilst I sat there, I did a quick sketch.
Think this will be a painting in its own right somehow...

...and I know there will be plenty of opportunities to paint flowers here.
So looking forward to the growing season bringing me more subjects.

~ Have a good weekend ~

I always dreamed of living in a grand house with this kind of conservatory. Lovely! And your sketches of the flowers are just wonderful! :D

That's a lovely conservatory and a lovely painting of the flowers. The rain has it's advantages sometimes :)

I know what you mean about being rained out. Glub glub. Same here. Love that conservatory. I fell in love with them when I read The Shell Seekers years ago. Which is why I had to have a nice big sunroom here. Like being outside but comfy. :) look forward to seeing the painting finished. The flowers make a cool painting as is too.

I used to love drawing and painting flowers but haven't done any for years! Your flower paintings are lovely. BTW we just had our annual art show and sale and I sold seven paintings.... SEVEN! I'm astonished. I'll be posting about it after the weekend if you want to see what I sold.

I like your bird of paradise. Looks a lot better than the one I did recently. Hugs Mrs A.

Thanks Marie, I used a landscape format sketchbook and thought it was different adding various flowers instead of just one. :)

Thanks Robin, it was a nice place to paint :)

Indeed it does. I probably wouldn't have ventured into the conservatory yet, but glad the weather forced me to. Now I know there will be lots and lots more flower paintings to come.

Something calming about conservatories. The Arlington one is particularly special as they kept it to the design of an original one there, which rotted out and had to be replaced. I think they did a great job with it :)

That is BRILLIANT news. Well done. Can't wait to see your blogpost about it. Sending a Big pat on the back :)

Thanks Judy, you would have loved the flowers there and I can imagine you sitting there painting them :)

Thanks so much. We all are our own critics sometimes, take another look at our paintings a few weeks later and they are much better than we first thought ;)

Thanks for your kind words. I'm still surprised about the positive reaction I get from people coming to the annual art show, buying my paintings. And I also sold 19 hand painted greeting cards, a total surpise. But now I have to find some inspiration to live up to expectations for next year!!!!!

Double well done with the hand painted cards. I find people love Original artwork more than Printed, so being able to go to an event and buy an artists work is special to them. Also, with artwork people like paintings that reflect that area, especially if they are visitors who want to take a piece of that area back home with them. As for inspiration, if you are looking to do a wider range of views, then try https://pixabay.com They have loads of great photos that can be used. Happy painting :)
