Plein Air painting

It was lovely sitting in the gardens at Arlington Court one day last week,
with my easel for a spot of painting.

I took photos for reference and reminders of plants/composition possibilities

and did some sketches

albeit, some quick sketchy notes

but nonetheless reminders of colours and tones for future paintings

I'm not a botanical artist (photographs are for that to my mind) -
but I do love painting in a loose impressionist style.
For me it's more about the feeling of the subject that then appears on
watercolour paper

The conservatory in the gardens with grass terraces
(the grass terrace was where I set up my easel)

and did this painting...

and this one...

Thanks so much Eileen, I went with the feeling it gave spontaneously at the time :)
