Equine art

A friend who recently visited and saw some of my paintings, made the random comment that I don’t seem to paint horses.    She was partially right.  Recently I have been working on seascapes, interior scenes and landscapes.  I do paint animals from cats, dogs etc, but her comment stuck with me and I decided to paint one of her horses -  add the image to social media - not tell her so it would be a surprise, and wait to see if she recognised her horse.   As yet I haven’t heard from her, so either she is yet to see it or it doesn’t look like her horse!

Peinture terminée - in other words Painting completed

You may recall I set out the design of this little 8x10 on art board, that was

after doing sketches from watching The Chateau Diaries on Youtube

Not an easy task, it took some time to get the scene together

but finally I've  now completed it using Oil paints

A bit of a storm...or two

Storm Ellen has visited and caused havoc -

at any rate it has on the beach at Woolacombe

There stood a row of some 70 beach huts - known as the 'painted ladies' due to the fact they are all given ladies names

Then on Thursday 20th August 2020 the storm came in with high tides and Very Strong winds,

which meant that some of the beach huts took a dip!

We got some photos on Thursday evening

People who had hired a beach hut were desperately trying to retrieve their belongings, but not all managed the task and their belongings were lost (hopefully they didn't leave anything too expensive in the huts)  - here's a link about the hire of beach huts, although I wouldn't advise trying to book anything at the moment!!!

here's a couple of clips, one from Thursday night - 26 seconds of a floating beach hut -

and then Friday morning -

During the afternoon diggers arrived on the beach to add huge sandbags
around the base of the Life Guards Hut

Painting a kitchen...

No, not literally, but an Oil painting on art panel.

Going to start this one today. I've set out the 'drawing' - hope you can see what it hopefully will be, a kitchen interior - if you click on the image the small in-sets may show up better...

Inspired

No guesses as to the inspiration for this weeks painting - you only have to look at the current Header

- but for those who miss this blogpost and read it in the future when the Header has changed...here's the inspiration

Oil on canvas board

I titled it "Further To Fly" because it felt like you could take off and keep going.

A sunny day for painting

Yesterday was a perfect Summer day for plein air painting.  Taking the opportunity, since the forecasters reckon it will rain later this week, I decided to go back to Arlington Court.   I love my Volunteering, what a great way of being there for visitors, we chat, laugh and I get the chance to inform them about Arlington. It's a Win Win for everyone.  Plus the painting went well (between talking) and I still have it In-progress for the next visit.   Fingers crossed the weather will be good on that occasion, I need the light right.
