Dartmoor view

Sometimes painting out of your comfort zone is good for you -  I have been working on an acrylic landscape which, although not quite finished, I thought I would add to this blog.  It has taken me away from my usual paintings - a change is as good as a rest as they say.

On this occasion I have used Atelier Interactive paints and a moody view of Dartmoor

Well, I did warn you it was out of my comfort zone.  I'll add a little bit more to it, possibly put some people walking.  Overall, I am quite pleased with it and I do intend to use these Interactive paints again....one day!

It’s lovely! I really like the rain coming down. It IS good to get out of our comfort zone. I think it’s the only way we grow! (Painful but good! LOL)

Thanks Annie :)

Thanks Robin - we drove over Dartmoor today and the weather looked just like the painting!

This is excellent - very moody, I can feel the ruggedness of the moor. Don't put these paints away for too long, you're very good with them! xx

Thank you BlueShell - it is nice to know whether people like a painting and their opinions/critiques are so helpful for future work. Now you have stopped by I have been able to find your blog, which I will be looking at (your photographs are great).

Hi Ann! A bit late comment, but this is beautiful! What are 'interactive' paints? Is that the same as just acrylics?

This is lovely.. Very 'Heath cliff' moody. :) I cant think of the words I want at the moment.. Some of your work reminds me of Queen Victoria's watercolors she did. I have a book on her work.

Hi Judy, I've received such great comments on this painting (even though it was out of my comfort zone using different paints)...well, to answer your question about Interactive paints, their full title is Atelier Interactive by Chrome, an Australian company. I think I will do a blog post about them with more explaining....cheers, ann.

Hi Cris, Thanks so much...I will Google Queen Victoria's watercolours to see what they were like. You are right about the Heathcliff moody atmosphere though, it sort of developed that way somehow...cheers, ann.

Thank you Judith - for a painting/medium style I really wasn't sure about, so many people have liked it....that is so encouraging and I'll be plunging in with them again soon (hopefully next week in fact):)
