Ahoy me hearties!

You don't expect to see one of these on a morning walk

especially as there are usually no boats at all in the Bay

I somehow think this will end up in a painting one day!

and no pirates in sight....

there was an ole sea dog though

Wow, that is interesting! Kind of alarming, where are the pirates? I expect a fab painting now, Ann! :)

What an experience to see one of these boats/ships. Looking at it, one can envision pirates hanging on the ropes and scurrying on the deck. What fun!

I know Judy, I kept looking for Jack Sparrow!...but apparently pirates don't dress as pirates these days.lol. As for a painting of it, I'm already planning and thinking maybe a Turner-esq type style.

Thanks Ann - I kept looking for them that's for sure!

Is this the 'Matthew' built in Bristol? It looks similar if not. A beautiful example of traditional craftsmanship and engineering.

I saw one of these tall ships while on a cruise this winter. Thanks for reminding me...

Cool!

Hi Bella, It could well be the Matthew, it is due to sail from Padstow to Newlyn around the 12th March, so could be making its way down there. I remember when it was built a few years ago now and we saw it sail for the first time up the Bristol Channel, we lived in Portishead at the time.

There really is something about actually seeing them sailing isn't there Pat....gives me goosebumps!

ann @ studiohyde said...

It was Edgar...such a surprise first thing in the morning!

ann @ studiohyde said...

Yes Chris, it's sometimes a bit weird here! lol...I'm going to do a painting....hopefully!

What a fun sighting. My DH would love it. He loves wooden boats and he loves tall ships. Wow!!! And I thought it was a painting when I first saw it. LOL

ann @ studiohyde said...

Yes it was a great surprise Lynn. I'm going to do a painting - hopefully doing it justice..lol.

Uhhh, that looks almost scary, but I hope you will get a nice oainting out of this :-)

ann @ studiohyde said...

I hope so too Jane....at the moment I have a couple of versions in mind, I'll probably end up doing lots of pencil sketches before I finally settle on something.

Extraordinary boat! It would make a wonderful painting, as would your cute 4 legged friend!
Happy Painting.

Way cool! Did you think you'd been transported back in time without your knowing about it? LOL

Pat said...

Ann, how fabulous is that?
Love the ship and I would hope you squeeze it into a few paintings!

if I can help ease your PF getting lost, shoot me an email! xx

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hi Nora, yes it is different! I'll be doing a painting before long.

ann @ studiohyde said...

Haha...yes it might have been - at least it has disappeared today!

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hi Robin, now that would have been weird!...although on the other hand....lol

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hi Pat, yes it will appear somewhere, somehow for sure. Thanks so much about PF, if I have a problem I'll let you know. One thing I have had today was an apparent email being sent out from my hotmail...but I didn't send it. Had quite a few comments (thanks everyone who has let me know).
