Having photographed flowers in the garden recently I thought it was a good opportunity to share another garden plant, our ...Bamboo jungle.....
inspired recently by a post which Danny Gregory did for the EDM challenge 'draw your foot' when he used a bamboo pen, I thought haha! I'll try making a piece of bamboo from the garden into a pen!.....but would it work....
here's the first effort
not bad....I used it like a dip pen with ink. Then decided to refine the nib, so I trimmed it down more to a point
and tried various outlines....
I like the effect the pen gives with varying thick and thin lines - and the randomness of them...
and a quick drawing...
"So why does mum expect me to model for her!" |
All in all I'm really pleased with this and intend to use more pieces trimmed to various widths -
yay lots of free pens!
- Thank you Danny for this inspiration -

Clever idea! But... that is A LOT of pens, that bamboo jungle!
Very sweet. Have a happy Monday Ann.
Best wishes Molly
Ann - Now that is a challenge using a bamboo stick to draw. I have enough trouble with a pencil... :-)
Have a great week!:)
Nice way to use what is around you!
..I know Judy, but I'm going with the theory that if I break one, I've got plenty of replacements..lol (:
Thanks Molly, Laura, Robert and Joan - it was a fun experiment!
Love that bamboo jungle Ann. Awesome! I tried following you but I think Blogger or google is having some sort of problems. I'll try again. Have a great week.
Once again, my marketing mind races into overdrive! Handmade bamboo pens from North Devon! Your shop is growing by leaps and bounds! Pens, original art, a book about William! You are amazing! I like the lines you are making with your bamboo jungle.
Hi Gloria - I've had the same trouble with blogger/google following sometimes!
Thanks Robin - I should have a shop...might get round to it one of these days (:
oh wow....never ever heard of writing with bamboo....amazing!
....it's worth giving a try Diana.
Wow. Incredible! I'm sure William is totally pleased with the results and I'm amazed.
very clever! Don't you just love Danny Gregory?
Thanks Annie (:
Thanks Chris - I agree, DG is so casual about what he paints.
