I'm revisiting a scene I did a while back, but just changing some small details here and there.
You may recognise this Pathway Across The Moor - this is the early stage, although I am happy at the moment with the sky. So that may well stay as it is. I changed brushes and used a Filbert, that really made a difference and helped me get the rounded clouds.
Basically I've put down shapes and colours. I'll gradually work on the distance...knowing I need to 'send it back' ...which, of course, calls for some blue.
It definitely helps to leave it for a few days
then go back and look at it with fresh eyes

But that is a fabulous work in progress. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
Thanks so much Molly :)
It is always good to see works as they are completed over time and the changes that happen. This is lovely!
Thanks Joan, I have in my mind how I want this, but it will probably end differently! Lol
It's beautiful so far!
Looks great! Beautiful sky!
Thanks Christine :)
Thanks Judy :)
In progress but already really gorgeous...some beautiful clouds and colors in the moor !
Looking good. I am actually doing the same thing with a painting I have been working. I think its close to done but I am letting it set a day or so to study it. I need to tweak something and looking at it tells me what I need to do. They sometimes go another way then we think in our heads tho. but that's the fun of painting ..its like reading a good mystery book. :)
Your clouds look amazing. I look forward to seeing more of this WIP
It's beautiful. I love this scene. I really just want to step into the painting! :)
I love clouds…....and you’ve captured them so perfectly!
Beautiful atmospheric moors.
Thanks Jane - it was all the filbert's work, lol :)
Thanks Cris - I think the next time I work on this I'll get considerably further with it than I have in the last week or so...we have family staying and hence I'm on a slow phase, which I don't mind as it gives me time to 'look' at it.
Thanks Rebecca - at least I feel a large part of the painting is in place :)
Aww, now that says a lot Mary, if it looks a place people want to be then this has to be a good start for this painting, thanks for saying :)
Thanks Robin - it suddenly happened with the clouds, I really found the filbert a bonus :)
Thanks Allan, yes Atmospheric it is, hopefully I can keep that in the painting as it progresses :)
Wow those puddles definitely changed the mood and atmosphere of the painting. Beautiful work so far. Interesting to read you use a filbert. I don't use mine very often but then I love my rounds for watercolour. Good Luck with the rest. Not that you need it. :-)
This is beautiful, and reminds me of hikes across the Yorkshire moors back in the good old days! Valerie
looking good ann.
I can just imagine what it must be like in your studio, painting this. Seems like the most wonderful, relaxing environment and work!
Hi Laura, I thought the placement of the puddles gave this atmosphere too, sort of made sense of the perspective somehow. Hopefully I can keep this going :)
Thanks Valerie, it's definitely one of those blustery moor walking days :)
Thanks very much Jane :)
Thanks so much, yes, this type of painting is Very relaxing :)
