Another part of the recent County Show was seeing the Carriage Driving. ...firstly these parading through the crowds to the Ring where they were doing a demonstration...
The chosen Charity for this year's Show is
The Calvert Trust
which was great....I used to volunteer there for years helping with the
carriage driving and teaching disabled and able-bodied people to drive...
so you can imagine my delight to bump into a friend there who was
about to do a display in one of the Show Rings....
Nicky Chapman driving Hendrix
To anyone who knows carriage driving, you'll see that Nicky is sat on the near-side
(usually the carriage driver is on the off-side)...
However, with this type of driving the disabled person is considered
the 'Driver' and hence they are sat in the correct place, the 'off-side'
or right-hand side (like driving cars over here in the UK).
It was great meeting Nicky again - I'll be popping into the Calvert stables
soon to see them all over there....

Looks like good crowds at the county Show, and good weather too. There are various agricultural shows here, usually called Fairs, traditionally held in August & September but also in the spring. Horses, cattle, produce, etc. I liked your videos of the carriage driving. Ny DIL used to volunteer for the disabled, but for actually riding the horses, not carriages.
Hendrix is a handsome fellow. What breed is he? I didn't catch it in the video clip.
I used to help with the riding for disabled too, but when we were living up near Bristol. When we came down here I decided to help with the carriages instead. I bet your dil enjoyed the work she did, I know I got a lot from it.
Yes, Hendrix is sweet, he's a Cob.... I got to meet him so that was special.
nice to see everyone out and about enjoying the weather too.
Yes it was. Funny thing is it was a bit cloudy and yet was nice and warm.
