We took a trip over the moor to Dunster castle again,
but this time didn't go into the castle itself!!!
Instead we walked round part of the grounds and made our
way down to the working Watermill
This part of the gardens has a lot of plants like
ornamental banana plants, large grasses, bamboo
and the occasional wooden sculpture
A sign that this is getting to be the end of Summer here -
the hydrangeas are starting to go over...
Even the path back to the castle took us
above the mill with great views...

I remember going there too, a few years back. Fascinating place, especially the mill.
Like stepping back in time
What a fantastic place to visit and nice to see they keep the mill working to this day.
Glad you know this place too...yes, it is fascinating and so pleased the National Trust preserve it, they do one heck of a job don't they :-)
It was CJ, and the atmosphere of the place was perfect.
It surprised us at just how much work was done to preserve it. Fantastic to actually see the mill wheel turning.
Yeah, another great tour to a lovely place! I love it, especially the mill!
what lovely grounds.
what a beautiful, serene place!! thanks for the pics!
You are so lucky to have these places to visit!
We loved the mill too. It is within the grounds of the castle, a little gem tucked away.
It was lovely to walk through all those gorgeous plants.
Fascinating photos ~ outside is lovely and bet it was delightful this time of year!
Happy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
Yes, it was very serene Sue...somewhere we will be returning to again I'm sure.
They're a national treasure that's for sure :-)
Thanks Carol...this time of year the schools have gone back, so visiting places is a lot less crowded :-)
I've often seen Dunster Castle from a distance when on the way to Minehead but have never visited, well, I don't think so anyway. Maybe when I was little. So it's nice to have a stroll around the grounds with you.
We were like that too over the years...there it sits on the hill as you drive past. Glad we decided to make it a visit a while back and then the other day go back again for another look around. Lovely grounds plus lovely inside the castle too, not all NT places have both parts that are good to see.
