although it is a Castle, inside it is very homey
In this room, all these designs are individually hand painted, so no two are exactly the same...
Inner Courtyard seen from one of the rooms
Then outside, it was nice to have a wander
the parkland was lovely,
with a very quaint building
Then, of course, I stopped for lunch
and did some sketching
~ Another place for the return to list ~

I can imagine that place full of life, the hustle and bustle of servants meeting the needs of the gentry.
The workmanship is beautiful. Thanks for taking me along again, Ann.
nice sketches, thanks for the tour, nice to see the inside of the castle!
Yes, it would be easy to imagine that life there. The Trust set out rooms so well it sort of transports you back in time :)
Thanks Christine, it was nice doing the sketching. I added watercolour later, but having been there actually sketching the place, it helped a lot.
I like your sketches better than the real thing! :)
Thanks Robin, it has been good to sketch at these places rather than from photographs :)
Yes it is very homely and what a wonderful building. Your sketches are lovely.
It really surprised me, because from the outside it looked quite a stark cold place, never thought it would be furnished as it was.
Ann, loved the tour and your sketches! As usual your wonderful freedom in watercolor sketching inspiring! Thanks.

Thanks Rainey, it's always nice to sketch 'en plein air' but sometimes 'challenging' depending on where you are, lol - Glad you like my sketches.
I love the handpainted decoration, amazing! The shadows look painted too. Can't wait for your blogpost about the lake.
Yes the shadows were painted - must have taken hours of work!
