Amanda Hyatt workshop

Last  month I had the great fortune to be part of a 5-day Workshop course in Sidmouth.  Our tutor was

We did some work in the Studio and also some paintings en plein air.

All the following paintings are Amanda's work

My fellow students were generally used to using watercolour.

I happened to spot immediately one Professional artist the minute he walked in to join the course

That for me confirmed that it isn't only beginners/intermediate artists who go on Art courses,

the Professionals do too.

Small clip of Amanda taking one of the tutorials

Here's a photo of us all at the end of the Course.  I'm at the back on the right (hiding) lol

And talk about Professionals on this Course,
it was great to meet and follow online

It was amazing. Tiring, as they were long days of intense concentration* (*not something I'm used to)🤣

Very memorable Christine.

It was a great time. Of course, there are always the one or two people who are irritating, lol...but overall everyone was so friendly and I have made an online friend through it too with Karen Thomas.

Certainly did, it was so worth the hard work during the week.

Indeed she does make it look easy. So glad I had this opportunity.

How wonderful to go on such an inspiring course. It looks like Amanda works only in watercolours? She is obviously using a brush in the video, but does she use a pencil to sketch her shapes first? Were any of the students using acrylics? I just checked her website and I see an interesting workshop in Suffolk in 2019. I really haven't had any experience with watercolours so would just make a horrible mess! Are we going to see the work you produced at this workshop? I hope so!

Yes, completely inspiring, Amanda's approach to teaching made it all go so well. I think she does use acrylics and oils, but is mainly a watercolour artist. We all used watercolours on this course. Glad you looked at her website, Yes she will be at Dedham next year, it's a well known centre for art workshops. Don't worry, I'll be adding a post soon with my 'attempts' at the tutorials and yes she does a pencil outline first, very basic, but enough to guide her through the painting. 🙂

Only just found this Ann, and it brought back such lovely memories. I enjoyed that week thoroughly, I wish we were all back there! Do I get to catch up with you at the Dedham one this year? Honestly, I miss it so much and I almost smell the sea at Sidmouth

Hi Karen, great that you found me here. I'm enjoying seeing your paintings recently and so pleased that your art is doing so well - well deserved. Sadly I won't be at Dedham, nor will I be able to do Amanda Hyatt's course in Sidmouth in September, the dates sadly clash with other things.....darn it! Meanwhile, onward and upward as they say, I'm going to be running a Watercolour Workshop at Arlington Court next month, May 14th, really looking forward to it. Plus this season at Arlington Court, I'll be doing en plein air painting once a week, plus a couple of events are planned where people can come along and join me on location, not instructional, just paint-alongs. At the end of the season in September I'll do a weekend Exhibition there, where people can see the work I've done and hopefully get to sell some pieces, where I donate all the funds to Arlington Court for their boudoir preservation fund.....Do keep in touch Karen, perhaps we can actually catch up sometime and do some painting on location, Bude perhaps? Bye for now....ann
