The last resort....

Is it actually the last resort when I use the back cover of my sketchbook!! well, it feels like that....Does anyone else do this?

It does make quite a good, neutral background, for the sketch rather than stark white paper.

Here, I've used my live in subject - William, he is always ready to pose!!!!

I used:

Back cover of  The Pink Pig sketchbook
Pencil
Sailor Pen for detail

Such a clever sketch, so few lines but such personality and realism. I'm lost in admiration.

William has the last word then! His eye lights up the page.

Aww, thanks Jez....it's a 'trick of the eye' quite literally really. It's WHAT ISN'T THERE, that makes the drawing believe it or not....the viewer interprets the missing bits....HONESTLY :-)

Have just joined a water colour evening class. Week 1 was the dreaded fruit still life which we completed last week and next week we are onto flowers which I am much more comfortable with.
Enjoying the different rules needed for water colouring as apposed to oils which I am much more at home with.
Hugs Mrs A.

Sounds like this class will help you a lot with your watercolours. They are controllable but it is only practicing with them that will, in the end, pay off. I use oils, acrylic and watercolours and I would find it difficult to say which medium I prefer...each has a quality that proves best for certain subjects.
