Another sketch in my Stillman & Birn sketchbook. I'm liking this sketchbook the more I use it, the paper is such good quality. I can see why artists rave about it.
OOOO I like that! You make watercolours look so easy. But I'm sure I couldn't do it, I like to splash paint around too much. Just started another small painting, with Cad orange underpainting, not sure how it will turn out. Will take pictures as I go along.
Ann - such a lovely bloom...I too have a Stillman & Birn sketchbook - hurrying to use up some of my others so I can give this a try. Everyone who uses it says they really like it. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a great day.
I'm sure you could. This was way too easy I can assure you. Sort of like pouring paint, but I used a brush (large) - perhaps I should do a video of it or photos of the process. Your cad orange underpainting sounds fun, can't wait to see it :-)
You're very restrained if you are waiting to use older books up first Debbie. I can never wait and end up with lots on the go at the same time, lol :-)
Nice job on this! The S&B sketchbooks all have good paper, but each one is better for certain mediums. I like the Beta the best. I forgot which one you have. I still have a Zeta that I haven't tried.
Hi, Ann, I really enjoyed this work! You're brave and take a risk -- that's what all of us need to have. I'm playing with colours and want to find out breakthough or something new for me. Cheers, Sadami
Thanks Sadami. I find it difficult to go out of my comfort zone, but lately I have pushed the barriers. It was all due to using different paper (rough Saunders Waterford in a pad - which I didn't use in this experiment). That rough paper was a break through for me as I HAD to tackle it head on. The answer for me was MIX A LOT OF COLOUR FIRST (choosing a warm theme/tone with a little complimentary cool - that was a little green) Wetted the paper with clear water first, then dropped in all these delicious colours, adding neat colour along the way. Wow! out of my comfort zone, having fun and enjoying the results....win win ;)

I LOVE the way the flower appears to be carved out of the glorious background in your sketchbook. Happy PPF and Blessings!

Thanks Marji, I went for a rainbow effect and just had fun, lol :-)
What a gorgeous burst of summer colour! Lovely and such a super style too.
I love how your flower is emerging from that wonderful splashy background Ann!
Thanks, it was fun to do :-)
Thanks Linda :-)
:)
Cheers Robin :-)
Wow - I love this Ann. If it was framed and in a gallery, people would be clamouring to buy it I'm sure!
I love my S&B sketchbook too. It's so smooth and easy to both draw and paint in. Your dreamy flower flew right into my heart, it's just beautiful.

This is really beautiful!
Thanks Em. It was more an experiment with the S & B Sketchbook, but I might just frame it for my local Gallery :-)
Hi Laila, I agree with you about the sketchbooks being smooth and easy to paint in, I'm loving mine.
Hi Joan, yes, I've got the Beta one. So pleased I chose it. Do let me know what you think about the Zeta one when you get round to using it.
You make water color painting look so easy, Ann. So gorgeous.
Wow there is so much going on in this painting. I love the colors!!!!

Really lovely Ann , you should do a bigger version of it, really good !
Thanks Mari :-)
I will do that Faye, it should be a bit of fun :-)
Thanks Ariel :-)
I'd considered that too, it would be a great excuse to splash colour :-)
Lovely juicy colours, Ann! A bigger version would indeed be a great idea!
Thanks Judy, this is something I am definitely going to do :-)
