we have seen the Barrel Jellyfish
they can be the size of a dustbin lid, but this one was slightly smaller.
They are, apparently, the basking shark of the jellyfish world, the
gentle giant...(although a slight sting can be given it wouldn't cause serious harm).
....and flipped over this is the other side

I hate seeing these at the beach, but one year I was in CA and went to the Monterrey Aquarium. They had a display of them that was just gorgeous. When they are floating and you see them from below they are so lovely to watch. It made me appreciate them...a bit.
Beautiful things aren't they? Really intriguing.
Are people being told to stay out of the water? Are they just in Woolacombe or other places? I remember there were a lot on CM beach one summer.
I can imagine that, seeing them from a different angle must have been great.
Yes they are :-)
No, people aren't being told to stay out of the water. They have been reported in the paper and on TV, but luckily they are harmless. I wouldn't want to meet one in the water though! They are all around this area at the moment, the weather has brought them up on the Gulf Stream.
oh wow that first one is spectacular!
Wow! What an assortment! They can be beautiful…. In an icky kind of way! ;)
Yes, I thought so too :-)
Lol, I know
They are beautiful but not so good to meet in the water!
The barrel jellyfish is bigger than I realised.
What a variety! I especially like the blue one
Wow, they are beautiful, especially the first one! Icky... yes, that too. :)
I thought that too, I didn't realise just how big they can be.
...and it really is that blue!
Yes, definitely icky, lol
Your collage is wonderful! Sarah x
