Another bite sized blog post...

The Whitsand Bay Hotel, Portwrinkle!
(click the link)

This photo was from the hotel...not a bad view is it!

and this is from Street View...the Hotel is the large building top left...and check out the name of the road....Finnygook Lane.  Can you imagine being asked where you live and saying "Finnygook Lane, Portwrinkle" - only the people living there would believe you!

The Hotel had many great features, one was this stained glass window on the staircase...here's a little bit of history about the hotel

and this is Emma the resident labrador.  She was so sweet, and liked a fuss made every time we walked by - and William didn't mind at all, he just wanted to get out for his walks.....

....and the walks were good. A small beach down the road was enjoyed....

~ We will definitely be going back one day ~

That's a proper Cornish name, it's a fabulous hotel and location. Even better that it has it's own resident dog to fuss :)

Love the name! I wonder its origin. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the setting wonderful. When you sketch on your adventures, it's as if you are investing yourself in the place. So much more than a mere photograph! At least that's how it looks to me.

Finnygook Lane Portwrinkle sounds like something out of a children's book. Beautiful view and gorgeous stained glass window.

Enjoyed the tour and sketch!

Yes Very Cornish...shame they do the cream teas wrong though isn't it (or is that because I'm from Devon)!

That's exactly it Marie. I feel I really 'Know' the place when I sketch the things in front of me like that. I can look back at the sketches and remember Exactly what was happening around me, even down to the weather sometimes (although that could be because the paper gets wet in a downpour) ;)

It was very different Liz - we loved it.

It does sound like a children's book...wonder if it has ever been used.

Thanks Christine...I like to drag you all along with me on these trips ;)

LOVE your sketch of the staircase and windows! ♥♥♥♥♥

Thanks Robin...we were sitting in the lounge area when I sketched this. There was a group of six people nearby (extremely painful people - mouthy lot)..so it was at least entertaining whilst I sketched. I shall always look at this sketch and remember them (and wonder if they are still mouthy) ;)

Like CJ said, it's like a children' book name, lol :-)

Oh it all looks so lovely. And those holiday places are never crowded in the off season. Except for those mouthy people of course.
