Well known for it's Book Selling -
there are plenty of reminders throughout the town
as it seems like every other shop is about books
and some clever artwork
not sure if this was an official bookhead creature on the road,
but thought it worth a picture...
Difficult to see in this next photo, but the shop on the right
has a concave window - very quirky
Looking through the window it seemed to be mostly a pen shop.....ahhhh, PENS!
Unfortunately closed when we were there,
but what a great excuse to revisit and have a look around.
then back to our Hotel
The Baskerville Arms Clyro
and so the end of this particular trip.

What an incredible place and about books. Wonderful. That window in incredible. How did they do that, Ann? You always find such great things!
The place name is so quaint. A town about books and pens? Yes, please. Loved the unusual window at the stationer's.
Thanks for the trip back in time this morning, Ann. In 1977 we made a trip across the pond to celebrate my son's HS graduation. One of the places we visited was that unique little town of Hay-on-Wye.
Great post Ann - i loved the tour and especially google view - I went up the street a bit and if i have more time I'll come back and tour more of the area. I want to draw those buildings. Loved seeing William out and about and so good to see all those bookstores.
A lovely place to wander around and certainly a place we will return to. I might ask about that window when we return there, hopefully the shop will be open next time :)
Definitely a lovely town :)
I'm so glad this brought back good memories for you Faye. Certainly an online nostalgic look back :)
Stret View is really useful, I hope you do pop back and have a look around. Very good for using as a source of inspiration for painting too, google are happy for people to use it for that, although you have to mention that street view is the source. (one thing, we can't paint from the 'blue dot' images as they are the copyright of the photographer).
very quaint town. I love the trompe l'oeil art
I could spend all day here and you have reminded me it's a long time since we last visited! Sarah x
So did I...great to see the art in a random place like that.
Definitely an all day visit sort of place.
A PEN shop!!!!! ALL pens??? Oh what trouble we could get into in THAT shop! :D
Somewhere I'd love to visit, it looks awesome. Have to say I love the name of your hotel too :)
Pens and others things, but looking through the window I saw LOTS of pens :)
Funny when we had a large dog with us too :)
Interesting place, thanks for the tour, Ann!
It was definitely different Judy and somewhere to explore another time. I'm sure there will be a future blog post :)
good point - ...blue dot image...thanks.
