Visiting Petworth

"A stately mansion nestled in the South Downs housing the finest art collection in the care of the National Trust."

and oh boy were they right...the artworks were astonishing and included one of my favourites, the work of  JMW TURNER

Rooms FULL of artwork

have you noticed the troupe l'oeil

impressive or what

The making of these is in the Shadows...brings it all to life

Whilst I looked around the house, Graham and William walked some of the extensive parkland that surrounds the house. ....guess who had to pose!

and I sketched some myself when we met up later...

~ we are definitely going to revisit one day ~

Wonderful collection. I'm sure that is too much beauty to take in on one visit.

Ah... Turner, lovely! Did you see the Fake or Fortune episode where they identified a couple of genuine Turners?

Yes, the house and surrounding buildings were worth the visit, let alone the vast parklands. If only we lived nearer, but it will be a revisit one of these days :)

Definitely too much for one visit. Still, it gives us an excuse to go back :)

No I haven't seen that. How splendid to discover genuine works :)
