"Oh No, not more Sktchy paintings" I hear you all cry!!!

Have you guessed I'm enjoying this Sktchy app!

here are three more drawings with their reference pics

here's an initial sketch I did from the photo reference...

and the final painting

~ with many thanks to the relevant submissions ~

As you see, I'm not completely 'true' to the reference pictures,
but I like to think (or is it an excuse) that I'm doing this to
ENJOY
and not be under pressure.

THERE, you weren't expecting that ⬆️

btw I never liked this group,
I just thought of the song when I typed 'under pressure'

SKTCHY

Amongst other artwork, I'm still plugging along with the Sktchy app of an evening.

Thought some of you wouldn't have seen them if you don't have Facebook -

so for you and everyone here's my efforts so far...

(by the way, I have had some lovely responses from the photographers themselves, so I must be getting something right)

Sktchy

SKTCHY !?

Yes, I have spelt it correctly.

This is an App on Apple iTunes on my iPhone - people add photographs they are happy for others to draw/paint/sketch.

I started adding sketches from this app, 2 years ago in 2017.  Then during 2018 I drifted away and now I seem to have drifted back again...

So far this year I have added these

They make a great thing to doodle with whilst watching tv of an evening

Planning and pre-sketch

I usually try to do a quick thumbnail sketch of a scene before starting a painting.

They aren't much to write home about, scribbled quickly just to get an idea,
I don't tend to keep them.  Recently, however, I've been working in a hard-back sketchbook,
so keeping the "scribbles" is inevitable.

For a future painting, I'm thinking acrylic on canvas,
similar to others I've done and found a free reference photo seascape.
Sketching it out, playing with ideas.

(Rocks)
(sketched with acrylic paint)

a double page spread with a High horizon line

and then with a Low horizon line

(pencil outline)

(watercolour added)

Quick ideas but they tell me a lot.

When I start the canvas, I'll try to remember to take photos of the process

so

as they say

"Watch this space"

Etsy and other paintings

As you no doubt have seen from the sidebar, I have some new Listings on my Etsy shop.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/studiohydeart

There that's the promotion done with ;)

To be honest I am loving painting these various artworks.  Many and varied, could be a way to describe my art, but I love it that way.  Inspiration pops up in different ways, a walk in the countryside or on the beach.  A trip away to another area, that really does inspire...

Arundel Castle sketch

Bath Abbey

Not only drawing William, but little Hamish inspires drawings too, particularly photos taken by our daughter, she seems to capture the unusual...

Sketches from our travels

Like I said in my previous post, I'm adding some sketches in this post of our trip away...but

Firstly one or two sketches from our trip to Birdlip in Gloucester.  I've already added some in my blog post dated 24th January here are some that escaped that blog post...

using a large moleskine journal I started with the map ...

 ....notes on the journey

We have just come back from another trip down to Buckfastleigh.  Great opportunity to sketch in a different town, and start another journal page with the map...

sketched from the car (it was warm in the car and cold outside, you get the idea)...

Looking forward to other trips away
and more sketching!

Sketches from our recent trip.

Sketching is a big part of trips away
for me.

Yes, photographs are great too, but the drawings always 'put me back there' far more
than any photograph can.

With that said, here are a few from our recent trip to Wales...
