within about 10 minutes this is how near it got....I'll have to go over another day and see if it has survived....

The usual slope down to the beach was littered with debri...
some pieces bigger than others....
I think they will need to cut this tree up before moving it!

Wow, that was a really big storm! I saw impressive images on the news as well. A lot of work for the beach crew.
The storms have been bad recently. I hope no-one was hurt. I certainly don't envy the tidy-up squads.
Having a little house overlooking the sea is getting more and more risky....globally !

We get pictures of the UK storms on the TV news but they never tell us the actual locations, very frustrating! I have been checking the NDJ to see if any damage happened in CM. Those are impressive pictures of the sand washed away.... but what the sea takes away it will probably return in the next storm. How far are you away from the beach? Funny that you lived near S'oton, I lived there from 1962 to 1966. Worked at the Ordnance Survey.
I was thinking about you when I saw the news coverage of north Devon. It's scary to see the damage that the sea and gale force winds does. That hut is perilously close to the edge now.
It took our Council a couple of weeks to clear up after the storm damage last month, but west wales took most of the force this weekend. Do take care when out walking, it looks very dangerous.
I really feel for the family of the young man who went out to take photographs and has disappeared. How cruel the sea can be.

oh my!! i would be very nervous if i lived close to the beach!!
That kind of erosion happens here too with the dunes...Quite shocking really when you see how the sea is so powerful and we are so puny, eh? xox

CM is fine, set back a bit as it is, all well at the moment. Incredible you worked for the Ordnance Survey, guess its in the same place up Romsey Road.
The sea is so beautiful, and yet so dangerous too.
We will take care thanks Eileen. I've been watching the news about that young man too, they were saying about the sea, but when I saw the pictures they were showing people walking across fields, so I'm not sure what was going on there. Hope they find him.

It must be awful for those people Sue - a house further up the coast from us has been flooded by sea water - again - (although it is a regular occurrence with that particular house) still not nice for the owners though.

I always think its a pity the power of the waves can't be harnessed for producing energy...all those waves surely would produce something other than distruction :-)
