ICAD challenge

I have just taken part in the Daisy Yellow ICAD challenge, adding my drawings over on their Facebook page.....61 drawings in 61 days...here's a small selection....

Glad I took part in this, it made me draw every day, although admittedly I didn't follow the 'prompts' in this challenge.  Instead I set myself the challenge of  seeing a suitable subject during the day and drawing it, of course, William turned up every so often!

ok, so this started out as an old english sheepdog and still ended up looking like William ...

does this tell me something?

A sleepy little Hamish...

....he made the perfect subject for sketching as he stayed still.

58/61   Nearing the end of the Daisy Yellow ICAD 61 day challenge...

...and oh there is something very freeing about Splashing Paint!

This latest painting measures 10" x 7" (25.4 x 17.78 cm)  and is painted on 140lb watercolour paper, using professional artists watercolour paints.

Mixing it up

A quick sketch of little Hamish....made all the easier as I let the paint mix itself.

1. Clear water over the whole picture

2. Painted using Burnt Sienna over the whole

3. Whilst this was still wet, I dropped in Burnt Umber to some shaded areas and then pure Ultramarine Blue just to add more depth to same.

BBQ days are back with the sunshine

The group of trees at Saltram...

On one of our recent trips away, we stopped at Saltram House (I did blog about it here) and one particular photo I took, which I posted onto my Facebook timeline, was of this tree (or group of trees) you see they're all joined up in a line...

Several people asked what kind of tree it was, I wasn't sure, although I thought the leaves looked like sycamore, but several suggestions were made which left me wondering.  So in order to put an end to speculation, I sent a message on Saltram via their facebook page.  They were really great and went to the trouble of replying and answering that it is indeed Sycamore.  Yay! at last I know for sure.

 

Index Card a Day...

Drawing a card a day for 61 days....up to 43 now --- but can I keep going (it's anyone's guess)!!!

Dunster Castle

A day out, not far from us, to Dunster Castle (click link) turned out well worth the visit, for one thing we caught the weather just right, which makes such a difference...

Even the ceilings in these places are often ornate...

(captured myself in the mirror...not intentionally)....

I liked the wallpaper design of the above room...

but got a strange look from other visitors for photographing the wall

~ it's okay, I'm used to it ~

and the gardens and grounds were lovely...

with some quirky bridges...

We come across some unusual things....

but the weirdest of all is this one...
