Heading out of Lymington harbour
We stayed near Shanklin on a holiday complex where we had a caravan for a few days. Well worth going (have been there before, so knew what it was like).....and it didn't take us long to settle in, some of us anyway!
Nice to visit some different places each time we go over to the Island and this time wandered along the river at Newport - glad we did as we found this lovely building,
home of the Newport Rowing Club
and yes, before you wonder, I did sketch it, as I did throughout our trip.
View across towards Sandown
Ventnor seafront with pub
I started a new travel sketchbook this trip, more of a travelogue throughout our stay. This sketchbook will be added to eventually with other trips we take, not just about this particular one.

Great work and a lovely setting. It was great to see it through your eyes!
I enjoy your trips. thanks for sharing. William seems to be a master at getting comfy. And your last sketch, are those the famous white cliffs of Dover?
William looked in need of a bit of encouragement on the boat.. "I see no water!"
Lovely pages! Looks like a good time was had by all! :)
Thanks Marie :)
No, they aren't the white cliffs of Dover, but the white cliffs of Freshwater Bay. There are a few places around the country that have these chalk cliffs :)
LOL...he always wants a reassuring hug on the boat, funny lad.
Thanks Robin. Yes, we had a good time :)
William's not so much of a sea dog if he needs a cuddle from his Dad :) I love your sketches, a lovely reminder of your trip.
I have fond memories of several visits to the Isle of Wight. Lovely to see these pictures. Your sketches are great! The caravan looks very comfy.
Not a sea dog at all, more a paddle in it not sail on it sort of dog, lol.
The island doesn't change much at all Judy. Over the years of us visiting, we have seen very few changes, which is nice, keeps it simple. :)
I really do love the posts about your trips. There is something about the Isle of Wight that as you know, really makes me want to visit. It's so lovely!
The Island might not change much over the years, but there's always something different and interesting to see. I'm glad we go back there from time to time :)
Great sketches from your trip! Looks like a fun time in lovely surroundings.
Thanks Joan, yes a lovely trip :)
