Fond memories

we made a recent visit to where I grew up (the New Forest - they have "renamed" it a National Park now, but come on, it's the New Forest pure and simple so lets continue with this blogpost without the "up themselves" jargon)

and plus we visited some interesting places along the way...
in fact the hotel we stayed in was so near one particular memory for me, I had to take a photo or two.

{{Pain}} had been involved at the time, back in the day, but part of life when you ride horses.

look at this photo, looks innocent enough

I rode a pony for someone back in the 60's! (really, was it that long ago {shock horror} ) and rode through the New Forest.

There I was, back in the day, riding merely along, when the pony decided to have a 'naughty fit' and started Bucking like a goodin'    -  Okay, I tried to retrieve the situation, but he wasn't having any of it and I was HEADING FOR THAT TREE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PHOTO!   In fact, if I remained as I was, my right knee would have hit that tree as we carriered by!...so I took the decision to Fall Off.   Okay, I may have left it a bit late in my decision and ended up in a heap at the bottom of the tree 🌳    -  OUCH!

that's the tree - or as near as I can remember.  It was certainly in that 'line' of the forest.  funny how pain can be remembered 😆

the journey down

Anyway....moving on - here's where we stopped on our way down to the forest.  Pepper Box Hill.  It was a nice place to leg stretch and also at the tail end of the day meant there weren't too many people about - plus the views were stunning

~ I will do another blog post about this trip and our visit to
Mottisfont Abbey ~

Watch this space as they say!

Seeing those trees and being there did remind me of the times I rode a very opinionated pony, lol.
