A surprise painting

You may remember back in March I did this
painting of a camper van and called it

"Silly Season"

One of my online blogging friends instantly fell in love with it - the funny thing is, I had been thinking of her when I was painting it (I knew she loved camper vans) - So it only seemed right that I should gift it to her.  Being an Oil painting, it needed to dry and would take a few weeks to do so.

During the 'waiting for the painting to dry process' this friend's adorable dog Annie, (a lurcher very similar to our William, only smaller) passed over the rainbow bridge.  I can't tell you how sad it made me, it was like losing one of our own.   My friend added a blogpost about their loss with a photograph of their lovely dog - I knew there and then I had to do a painting for her.   Although I was sneaky, and didn't tell her! - plus as this pet portrait was behind in the 'drying process'
I  had to delay sending the camper van painting (I wanted to put the two paintings into one parcel).

Finally, both paintings were ready to send and I packaged them up so they wouldn't see the pet portrait straight away -
I added an extra note saying there was another painting in the packaging.

Oh My - the response I got from them was wonderful -
they both Loved the pet portrait and it even brought them to tears
- in a good way -

I titled the painting

"Annie - Always By Your Side"

Eileen....sweet of you to say. For me, painting Annie, in a way was cathartic, helped me process her going and during the painting process was my goodbye to her. Does that sound strange?, I’m not sure, perhaps it’s an artist thing. But, most of all, it produced something positive for you and Martyn to always see ❤️

Robin....I know what you’re saying...Thanks 🙂

Ann, your comment doesn't sound strange at all. I'm touched that Annie's passing made you feel sad, now that does sound strange but I'm sure you know what I mean. Thank you so much xx

Eileen, I know exactly what you mean, it’s a shared loss isn’t it. And also I didn’t mention you in person, felt it was up to you if you wanted to comment, as you have done ❤️
