On a recent trip down to Hampshire, we were fortunate to have visited again Mottisfont (National Trust) near Romsey. They happened to have a Norman Thelwell Exhibition on at the time, so you can guess where I headed straight for.
Here's a catch up for those who haven't heard of Norman Thelwell, so you are literally 'in the picture'.
information thanks to Wikipedia (click this link)
As you will have seen from the above pictures, Thelwell wasn't only an illustrator/cartoonist, he was a full blown Artist too.
I took a rather shaky iPhone video at the exhibition, showing snapshots of paintings - so click
HERE for that.

Nice exhibition! Thanks for sharing! 😀
Looks a brilliant exhibition Ann, I really like those cartoons especially The Hole in the Wall :) I will check out the artist from the link, thank you.

Would you believe we've had Tilly exactly two years, it's her coming home anniversary today, where does the time disappear to.
Robin…..So glad we went to this exhibition and seeing his ‘actual’ original art, not just seeing his drawings in a book :)
Eileen…. Thelwell wrote a book about buying an old mill, that was good too. Think it was called “A Millstone round my neck”… worth a read - I read it years ago, must get another copy to read again. Cannot believe you have had Tilly for 2 years!!! Bless her, sending hugs for Tilly. I will go look at your new blog 👍
Fascinating. I've always known Thelwell to be an exceptional cartoonist but I hadn't appreciated his 'serious' art. What a fabulous exhibition that must have been. And thank you very much for your comment on my marquetry .... it was much appreciated.
John.... Glad I added this blogpost and that you enjoyed seeing it :)
