Barnstaple and the Sketchbook Project

As you will see I have travelled from South Molton up to Barnstaple in my little Sketchbook.

Barnstaple is the largest town in North Devon and used to be spelt
Barnstable  - you'll note it is spelt with a p instead of a b these days -
although it is still pronounced with a b.

I still have a few pages to go and hope to get this little Sketchbook completed soon.

Sketchbook Project 2012

I'm gradually working my way through this Project.....slowly, but getting there.   I must admit it was a bit daunting to start with, but gradually I have decided on the various pages and with each page it's enabled me to go naturally on to the next.  If you haven't noticed I'm working my way around a specific area in North Devon. I started out here in Woolacombe, then to Mortehoe, Lee Bay and over to Ilfracombe.  Today I'm going to show you Combe Martin - 2 double pages no less!!

For my next page I'll be travelling inland to South Molton

a thriving market town

my paintbrush and pen are poised!!

Lee Bay

I have now completed another two pages of my Sketchbook Project 2012 book, and have travelled around the coast a little further to Lee Bay.

This small village is home to about 100 homes.

Known locally as Fuchsia Valley because of all the wild fuchsia bushes growing along the lanes and hedgerows it is consequently very popular with holiday makers.

and hopefully next week I will be doing some more work on this project with a visit
to Ilfracombe........stay tuned

more pages

..............with my Sketchbook Project 2012 book

As you will see I am still keeping it coastal at the moment

The next two pages are of Mortehoe Village
which is just up the hill from Woolacombe

I am now getting to grips with how I want this sketchbook to look

and I'll gradually add some more pages soon

- it's a case of Watch This Space!!

Sketchbook Project 2012

Having read last year about the Sketchbook Project I thought that this time round I would give it a go for the 2012 Tour - it's described as being like a Concert Tour but with Sketchbooks!

I have put a link HERE to their official website and will be showing you some of my pages from time to time.  To begin with, here are the front and back covers - and the Theme I have chosen is "This is a Sketchbook......"

For the next two pages, I felt that as we are at the beach, I would start with just that

beach things,
